"Fencelines and treelines are ubiquitous in our landscape. This body of work explores paths where subtle structure meets the land, leading, guiding, or slowing our movement. These margins—shaped by use, weather, and time—offer a quiet framework for observing how the land’s use shifts on either side of these familiar boundaries. The fence posts and organic tree borders we so often pass without noticing—they hold histories, mark labor, and quietly define the way we live alongside the land.” – Julie Davis

Davis Gallery is thrilled to feature Fencelines and Treelines, new work by Julie Davis, in the Spotlight Gallery, opening on April 4th, 2026. Raised in West Texas, Davis brings a deep reverence for the land to her painting, often focusing her attention on the quiet, overlooked scenes of the landscape—the "bits of our surroundings that don't receive regular pause." Her approach is one of careful study and information gathering, translating her impressions of nature's individual forms, from the unique expressions of trees to the curious lines of forgotten structures, into compelling plein air pieces and studio paintings.

A highly acclaimed artist, Julie Davis is a Signature Member of Oil Painters of America (OPA), the American Impressionist Society (AIS), and American Women Artists (AWA), with numerous national awards to her credit, including Best of Show in the 2023 AIS All Member Paintout. Splitting her time between Austin, Texas, and Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Davis continues to find reward in sharing our landscape through her art. On view in our Spotlight Gallery from April 4th to May 2nd – come experience her meditative and masterful interpretations of the natural world.
