Jan Heaton
Jan Heaton’s watercolors offer a personal viewpoint that celebrates nature and then abstractly reaches beyond the obvious. Heaton’s watercolors are inspired by the structure, color, and pattern of elements in nature that are often overlooked. Her work isolates details and exposes the viewer to an everyday object or place seen from a new perspective. She incorporates her background in calligraphy and design to create sensuous and tranquil organic forms. The marks and translucent layers are precise, thoughtful, and carefully orchestrated. The meditative and healing aspect of making art has greatly influenced her work the past ten years. Born in Detroit, Jan is an artist who calls Austin and Laguna Beach home. “Do anything, but let it produce joy.” ― Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass
