Faustinus Deraet
Faustinus Deraet has been quoted, "Photography, besides a way of expression, is a way of discovering myself. Every photograph I take is a reflection of my feelings and my thoughts". Faustinus' photography is primarily taken with non sophisticated cameras, capturing simple, but emotional life moments and places that others take for granted. His images are straightforward; visually they are simple, easy and honest, but with a profound philosophical concept about meaning and feeling. Faustinus Deraet has been quoted, "Photography, besides a way of expression, is a way of discovering myself. Every photograph I take is a reflection of my feelings and my thoughts." Most of Deraet's images are taken "the old fashion way" with a HOLGA (plastic toy camera), while wandering the streets of different countries. He also uses digital equipment for commercial work and to create images of his daughter, Ania.
