Austin, TX - Davis Gallery is proud to announce "...of Warp and Weft" an exhibition featuring the work of Ausitn based artists Caprice Pierucci and Charles Heppner.  Despite the vastly different mediums of Caprice's elegant carved wood sculptures and Charles' photographs of delicate cheesecloth there is an open dialog of harmony, form and composition.

Caprice Peirucci draws much of her inspiration from her mother, a fiber artist of the late sixties and seventies.  Sinuous repetition, texture, progressive rhythms and linear abstractions surrounded her as a child.  The layers and undulating rhythms in the sculptural forms speak of mortality and the huge expanses of time that lead to one particular moment of beauty.

Charles Heppner's Sacred Fabric work comes out of his belief in the sanctity of the cosmos.  He was originally inspired by the writings of Cardinal Bernadin's where he described the 'seamless garment' metaphor to illustrate the 'consistent ethic of life' he advocated.  Meaning, he believed that there exist a common thread weaving all social justice issues because of the sanctity of a human life. Heppner's work extends this metaphor by using cheesecloth to represent his belief in the connectedness and interdependence of all things.

As Austin's fine art and framing destination, Davis Gallery showcases contemporary and traditional art from both emerging and mid career artists. Bill Davis has consistently promoted a taste and style that has won critics awards and the respect of Austin's art community throughout the years.
