UT Printmaking: Working Generations
On View: January 11- February 8, 2014
The University of Texas program has a history of building on traditional techniques by encouraging students to push boundaries. The exhibition will be highlighting these innovations that are taking printing into the next stages by showing three dimensional sculptural pieces as well as several installation pieces alongside two dimensional prints.
There will also be a special gallery talk featuring respected print maker and University of Texas professor Lee Chesney, graduate student Samantha Parker Salazar, and alumni Matthew Rebholz on January 29 from 6-8pm at Davis Gallery.
PrintAustin is a month long event sharing and educating about original prints by artists who create them, those who collect them, and those who want to uphold the traditions of printmaking while celebrating the innovations and contemporary approaches. Davis Gallery is proud to be a part of this event and to support Austin print makers.
Davis Gallery & Framing continues the tradition established by Bill Davis at the Tarrytown Gallery in 1979. It serves as a home to many of the best local and regional painters, printmakers, sculptors and ceramicists. Bill has consistently promoted a taste and style that has won critics awards and the respect of Austin's art community.
